On Friday, November 17, San Marino played an away match in the ninth round of the UEFA EURO-2024 qualification against Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan opened the scoring in the 19th minute, with Chesnakov as the goalscorer. At the beginning of the second half, Islam Chesnakov secured a brace and doubled the advantage.

However, the pivotal moment occurred in the 60th minute when San Marino scored a goal, with Simone Franciosi finding the net. This marked their second consecutive match with a goal; in the previous game, they scored against Denmark. This achievement hadn't occurred since 2005. Prior to this, San Marino had endured 16 consecutive defeats without scoring.

Nevertheless, Kazakhstan still emerged victorious with a score of 3-1.
