Former Atlético player and current Flamengo midfielder Saúl has drawn a comparison between the legendary clubs of Brazil and Spain.
Details: In an interview with the Spanish outlet AS, Flamengo midfielder Saúl Ñíguez stated that, in his view, the Brazilian club surpasses Real Madrid when it comes to fan support.
"For me, Flamengo is bigger than Real Madrid. Real, essentially, don't have true supporters. They're famous for their titles and victories, but when you go to their stadium, you don't feel any atmosphere. At the Maracanã, it's always packed and the fans create an incredible vibe," said Saúl.
He added that even on the road, Flamengo's support is impressive:
"We play in Recife, had to switch stadiums, otherwise our fan base wouldn't fit. In Lima, they fill the stadium too. To say Flamengo is great is an understatement. It's the biggest fan base in the world. I felt that connection from day one."
It's worth noting that tomorrow, November 17, Saúl Ñíguez and his Flamengo side will face French powerhouse PSG in the Intercontinental Cup final. Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00 Central European Time.
Reminder: Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé won his lawsuit against PSG.
