For Drug Possession: Tunisian Footballer Detained by National Guard Amid Ongoing Investigation
A Tunisian footballer playing in the country’s professional league was arrested late Sunday evening on charges of drug possession, according to local media reports. The incident occurred when the National Guard in Ben Arous intercepted a car carrying two individuals, one of whom is a well-known player in the Tunisian top-tier football league.
Although it is unclear if the individuals were using or intending to distribute the drugs, the authorities accused them of possessing them. A 48-hour detention period for the two people was decided upon after consulting with the public prosecutor's office; however, if investigations go, the custody may be extended.
The identity of the footballer has not been disclosed due to the confidentiality of the investigation.
