Details: The International Federation of Professional Footballers' Associations (FIFPro) released an official statement addressed to FIFA, sharply condemning the organization and accusing it of exploiting players while disregarding their health and well-being.
"Footballers are viewed as an inexhaustible resource, not as people. Those who play too much are putting their physical and mental integrity at risk," the statement reads.
FIFPro reminded that throughout the year, reforms to the football calendar aimed at safeguarding players' health and ensuring proper rest have been widely debated, yet no real action has been taken.
The union paid special attention to the Club World Cup, stating the tournament was designed purely to maximize profit, with no regard for the suffering of players and fans.
"No planning, no prevention, no respect – just an obsessive drive to earn as much as possible," representatives of the organization emphasized.
FIFPro also accused FIFA of arrogance and a lack of dialogue:
"FIFA continues to act unilaterally, without discussion or consultation, excluding those sectors that make up the very fabric of the football industry."
