Kind hearts: football stars Rüdiger and Saka help African children
Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger and Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka are backing the BigShoe Africa charity initiative, which aids underprivileged children across the continent, reports Bild.
In July 2024, BigShoe, together with Saka and Rüdiger, launched a project in Nigeria that involved 3,000 people, including 800 children. The initiative provided participants with vision screenings, along with access to glasses and medication to improve eye health.
“These children don’t have the means to live normal lives, and their families lack the resources to provide them with the medical help they need. For me, this is a personal mission — to help them have a brighter future,” Rüdiger shared.
Saka echoed his sentiments:
“Every child deserves access to healthcare, yet many are deprived of even basic medical services. These treatments can truly improve their quality of life. I hope projects like this will inspire others to do whatever they can for those less fortunate.”
The football stars’ donations have funded surgeries for hundreds of children in Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Sierra Leone, making a life-changing impact.
