Florida State and Pittsburgh players nearly brawl after the game: what happened?
Tensions flared after the NBA game between Florida State and the Pittsburgh Panthers, almost resulting in a full-blown brawl. Pittsburgh coach Jeff Capel was reportedly upset with Florida State’s Malik Ewin for sinking a shot into the basket after the final buzzer had sounded, TMZ reports.
Capel approached Ewin and seemingly said something harsh, which sparked a reaction from Florida State players. The situation quickly escalated, with both teams, including players and coaches, nearly engaging in a physical confrontation. Police had to step in to de-escalate the scene, escorting the Panthers players to their locker room.
Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton stated that he didn’t witness the initial altercation as he was greeting players on the court. He assured that the team would handle the matter internally.
Florida State claimed victory in the game with a score of 82–70.
Notably, Florida State and Pittsburgh won’t face each other again this season, meaning any potential continuation of this conflict will have to wait until next year.
