Florian Wirtz named UEFA Champions League Player of the Week

Yesterday marked the conclusion of Matchday 5 in the UEFA Champions League group stage, and based on the results, UEFA has selected the best player of the week.

Details: Following the voting, Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz was awarded the honor. In the 5-0 win over Red Bull Salzburg, Wirtz scored a brace and also provided one assist.

Wirtz faced competition from Mario Retegui (Atalanta), Malik Tillman (PSV), and Julián Álvarez (Atlético Madrid).

This is Wirtz's first such award in his career.

Reminder: It was previously reported that Bayer Leverkusen has no intention of selling Wirtz to Bayern Munich.
