Florentino Pérez launches fresh criticism over the Negreira case
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has delivered a scathing statement regarding the high-profile corruption investigation surrounding Barcelona.
Details: The head of the “royal club” described the “Negreira case” as the most blatant scandal in the history of world football and expressed his deep astonishment that the proceedings have yet to yield any definitive results. Pérez stressed that the situation, in which a club paid the vice-president of the referees’ technical committee for two decades, demands an immediate and transparent legal assessment.
Pérez paid particular attention to the fact that referees who worked during that era still hold their positions.
“The same referees from the Negreira era are still active. They’re still officiating. It makes no sense,” stated the president of Los Blancos.
According to him, it is unacceptable for individuals whose activities overlapped with the period of payments to continue officiating professional league matches after so many years.
It’s worth noting that this statement was made during an emergency press conference convened after the club’s board of directors meeting.
Reminder: The Real Madrid president has announced new elections.
