Flick has identified Barcelona's leaders. Four players will form the backbone of the team
On May 29, German specialist Hans-Dieter Flick officially took charge of Barcelona, and as soon as he arrived at Camp Nou, the coach started working on the squad.
One of Flick's first decisions at the Blaugrana was to identify the team leaders who would form the backbone of the squad. The names of these leaders were revealed by Ricardo Roseti, and in Barcelona the German will form a leading quartet.
It includes age players, as well as those who have been playing in Catalonia for a long time, these are: goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, midfielders İlkay Gündoğan and Frenkie de Jong, as well as striker Robert Lewandowski.
Notably, de Jong is the only one that Flick did not cross paths with before joining Barcelona. With ter Stegen and Gundogan, the specialist worked with the German national team, while Lewandowski was his mentee at Bayern Munich.
Ronald Araujo is missing from the leading list, but his future at Camp Nou remains unclear.
