Flamingos Captain Shakirat Moshood Named Finalist for 2025 CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year
Flamingos captain Shakirat Moshood has been announced as one of the final three nominees for the 2025 CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year award, marking another major milestone in her rising career.
Moshood is joined on the shortlist by Morocco’s Moha El Madani and Senegal’s Adji Ndiye, both standout performers for their countries over the past year.
The young midfielder led Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team at the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, where Coach Bankole Olowookere’s side reached the Round of 16 before bowing out of the tournament. Her leadership, composure, and consistency throughout the competition earned her widespread praise and strengthened her case for continental recognition.
In addition to Moshood’s nomination, the Super Falcons were also named among the final three contenders for the CAF Women’s National Team of the Year
