Flamengo Likely to Face Chelsea Without De la Cruz, Still in Recovery Phase

Nicolás De la Cruz has not yet resumed full training with Flamengo and is expected to miss the upcoming Club World Cup semifinal clash against Chelsea. As reported by Brazilian media on Wednesday, the Uruguayan international continues his individual recovery sessions on the pitch but remains separated from the squad.
De la Cruz is undergoing a cautious transition phase after suffering a ligament strain in his left knee a month ago. Flamengo’s medical and coaching staff were aware of the situation before the beginning of the tournament and are determined to avoid any setbacks, as a rushed return could jeopardize his availability for the rest of the tournament.
Flamengo’s midfield looked solid in the opening match against Espérance, with Erick Pulgar and Jorginho delivering a strong performance. Given the team’s current form and depth, there’s no urgent need to risk De la Cruz before he’s fully fit.
Meanwhile, Giorgian De Arrascaeta also raised some concern after taking a knock to his left knee, but the playmaker has been resting as a precaution. The club confirmed he will be fully fit and ready to face Chelsea on Friday.
Flamengo continues training in Atlantic City ahead of what promises to be one of the most high-stakes matches of the tournament.
