Nelson Deossa’s time with Monterrey may be nearing its end, as Flamengo is reportedly finalizing a move for the Colombian midfielder following his standout display at the 2025 Club World Cup. As reported by Bolavip, Flamengo has identified Deossa as Gerson’s successor and is preparing a €6 million transfer—roughly 38 million Brazilian reais.

Deossa, 25, joined Rayados from Pachuca in January but quickly drew continental attention with his commanding performances. He started every Club World Cup match except the opener against Inter Milan and scored in Monterrey’s 4-0 win over Urawa Reds. Though Rayados were eliminated by Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16, Deossa’s profile rose sharply.

River Plate had also shown interest, but Flamengo appears to be in pole position. With Gerson set to join Zenit, head coach Filipe Luís is pushing for Deossa’s arrival. The midfielder’s career has spanned clubs across Colombia, Argentina, and Mexico, including Atlético Huila, Estudiantes, Junior, and Atlético Nacional.

Should the deal go through, it would mark a quick turnaround for Deossa’s time in Liga MX and force Rayados to seek an urgent midfield replacement ahead of the 2025 Apertura.
