First time in his career. The 22-year-old Italian reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon
Today, the final semifinalist in the men's singles tournament at Wimbledon 2024 was determined.
In the last quarterfinal, 22-year-old Italian Lorenzo Musetti, ranked 25th in the ATP world rankings, defeated the world's 12th seed, Taylor Fritz, in a spectacular five-set match.
The first set went to the American, who made one break and won 6-3. However, in the second set, the game went to a tiebreak, which the Italian won 7-5.
In the third set, Musetti completely dominated and won 6-2, but the fourth set again went to Fritz – 6-3. In the decisive set, instead of a close battle, it turned into a crushing victory for the Italian at 6-1.
In the semifinals, Musetti will face the legendary Novak Djokovic.
Previously, Musetti had never reached the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament.
