London's Chelsea have been forced to take drastic measures to save their finances after announcing a record Premier League loss of £262.4 million. To balance the books and avoid sanctions, the club has begun actively seeking buyers for some of their top players.

Details: According to El Nacional, one of the first to be listed for departure was Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella. The Blues' management has already contacted Barcelona, offering the Catalans the chance to buy back their academy graduate for around €40 million.

Reports suggest the situation around the 27-year-old defender has escalated not just due to financial concerns, but also because of his outspoken comments. Cucurella publicly challenged the club's management, criticizing their transfer policy and the decision to dismiss Enzo Maresca at the start of 2026.

Such defiance and open support for the sacked coach—who led the club to victories in the Conference League and Club World Cup—have ultimately soured his relationship with the Chelsea hierarchy.

Notably, this season the Spanish defender has featured in 41 matches for the London side across all competitions, scoring once and providing three assists. Transfermarkt values the player at €50 million.

Reminder: Barcelona have made progress in talks regarding Inter's central defender Alessandro Bastoni.
