Fiorentina Terminate Tariq Lamptey’s Contract After Injury-Plagued Spell

Fiorentina have officially terminated the contract of Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey with immediate effect following a difficult and injury-hit spell at the club.

Lamptey joined Fiorentina from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer in a reported €6 million deal and signed a three-year contract with the Serie A side.

However, the 25-year-old struggled to make an impact in Italy, featuring in only two matches for Fiorentina. His debut came as a late substitute against Napoli before he made his first start against Como on September 21, 2025.

Unfortunately, Lamptey’s first start ended in disappointment after he suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury just 22 minutes into the match. The defender has not played competitively since the setback.

Reports suggest Fiorentina decided to end the contract due to ongoing concerns about Lamptey’s injury history, with the defender having battled recurring fitness issues in recent years.
