Liga de Quito sold their captain Ezequiel Piovi to Estudiantes but failed to sign a replacement. Despite receiving over $2 million from the deal, head coach ‘Vitamina’ Sánchez confirmed that the club couldn’t bring in a new midfielder due to financial and timing issues.
Speaking to the press, Sánchez revealed that they had approached several targets, including Madrid, Poblete, and Palavecino, but none of the deals materialized. The club will revisit the market in June, when both time and financial flexibility should improve, according to Bolavip.
The only addition before the window closed was Melvin Díaz, a forward from Cumbayá, whose profile doesn’t match Piovi’s. Liga now face the Copa Libertadores group stage with Flamengo, Central Córdoba, and Deportivo Táchira, and will look to strengthen if they advance or drop into the Sudamericana.
