Finally some good news! Kompany released from hospital as Bayern reveal cause of frightening collapse
Bayern Munich have finally received the news everyone was hoping for! Head coach Vincent Kompany has been discharged from hospital five days after his frightening collapse at the club's training ground. Doctors have also established the cause of the incident.
Details: Speaking to German broadcaster ARD ahead of Bayern's DFB-Pokal match against Magdeburg on October 28, sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that Kompany had returned home. The 40-year-old Belgian was diagnosed with irritation of the meninges, known medically in German as Hirnhautreizung. According to Eberl, the condition triggered his collapse on October 23. The coach will now continue his recovery at home, with rest and prescribed medication forming part of his treatment.
The incident occurred when Kompany was watching Bayern's reserve team train. He suddenly collapsed and required emergency medical attention before being taken to hospital. The former Manchester City defender had previously experienced a viral illness and severe headaches, prompting doctors to conduct extensive examinations.
Eberl described the discharge as the most welcome news for everyone at Bayern. However, the club will not rush its manager back to work. Assistant coach Aaron Danks will continue overseeing first-team operations while Kompany rests and completes his rehabilitation.
It's worth noting that Kompany's return to the touchline has not been scheduled. Bayern face Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Atlético Madrid in the Champions League in the coming days. Although Eberl expressed optimism about the coach's recovery, his health remains the club's priority.
Reminder: New alarming details! Kompany reportedly suffered seizures and a dislocated shoulder.
