Fifth dismissal of the season: West Ham sacks Lopetegui

By the end of 2024, the Premier League had already seen four managerial dismissals, excluding interim coaches. The new year wasted no time in adding to that tally, with a managerial sacking coming early in January.

Details: According to talkSPORT, West Ham's head coach Julen Lopetegui has been dismissed. As previously reported, the final straw was a crushing 1-4 defeat to Manchester City. It marked the sixth match this season where West Ham lost by a margin of three or more goals.

The leading candidate to replace Lopetegui is former head coach Graham Potter. He has reportedly expressed readiness to take charge of the team until the end of the season.

Reminder: Under the Spanish manager, West Ham played 22 matches, losing ten of them. The Hammers also managed seven wins and five draws.
