FIFA Verdict on Nigeria’s DRC Petition Expected in February

FIFA is expected to deliver its decision in February on Nigeria’s petition against DR Congo over their 2026 World Cup playoff encounter, SCORENigeria has been told. Recent reports have hinted at “positive vibes” surrounding the complaint. The Nigeria Football Federation alleged that DR Congo fielded several ineligible players during the playoff match held in Rabat, Morocco, in November, and demanded the country’s disqualification from the qualifiers.

DR Congo progressed after edging Nigeria 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time. They are now scheduled to face either Jamaica or New Caledonia in March in Mexico.
