FIFA The Best Awards: Achraf Hakimi and Mohamed Salah in the running
The list of finalists in the various categories of FIFA The Best has been unveiled by FIFA. In the Best Men's Player category, two Africans are featured: Achraf Hakimi and Mohamed Salah.
Crowned African Player of the Year, Achraf Hakimi is enjoying an exceptional period in his career. He has amassed numerous trophies at club level and delivered impressive performances with the Moroccan national team.
During the Club World Cup held last June, the right-back scored two goals and provided two assists. PSG even reached the final of the competition. Achraf Hakimi was also named to the Club World Cup Best XI. A finalist for the 2025 CAF Awards, Mohamed Salah is also in the running for FIFA The Best Player.
The Egyptian played a major role in Liverpool's 20th Premier League title. With 29 goals and 18 assists, Salah equaled a new record of 47 decisive contributions.
Both players are in contention alongside others such as Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Harry Kane, and the Ballon d'Or winner, Ousmane Dembélé. The race to succeed Vinicius Junior is well underway. FIFA has also opened the public voting period.
