This decision follows the incidents that occurred during Egypt’s 3–2 defeat by Argentina in the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Egyptian manager Hossam Hassan and his brother Ibrahim Hassan have each been suspended for three matches. Meanwhile, Mostafa Ziko has received a heavier sanction, with a five-match suspension.

These decisions will have implications for the Egyptian national team’s upcoming fixtures. Both coaches are expected to miss the matches against Malawi in November 2026, which count towards the third and fourth matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. They will also be absent for the match against Angola, scheduled for March 2027.

For Mostafa Ziko, the suspension will last for five matches. After the two matches against Malawi in November, he will also miss the fixtures against Angola and South Sudan in March 2027.

The fifth and final match of his suspension will be served during Egypt’s first match in their next competition, whether that be the FIFA World Cup qualifiers or the Africa Cup of Nations.
