Barcelona SC is facing mounting pressure on and off the pitch. As reported by Antena 2, after a disappointing elimination from the Copa Libertadores group stage and losing their domestic league lead to Independiente del Valle, questions are surfacing about the future of head coach Segundo Castillo.

Though the board claims to support him, speculation around Ismael Rescalvo as a potential successor suggests otherwise. Complicating matters, FIFA has issued multiple sanctions to the club for unresolved debts to current and former players—warnings that have now escalated into a full ban on registering new players.

This directly impacts Barcelona's recent signing Miguel Parrales, who won’t be eligible to debut until the club settles its outstanding payments. FIFA’s fifth formal sanction confirms that unless debts are paid, Barcelona cannot proceed in the current transfer window.

In addition to Parrales, the club hopes to bring in Jonathan Perlaza—who is also being pursued by archrival Emelec—and several other reinforcements including a defender, a playmaker, and a winger. However, none of these moves will be possible unless the club clears its financial obligations.

The transfer window remains open only through June, giving Barcelona just over two weeks to resolve the issue and act in the market.
