FIFA Ranking: Senegal Drops One Place

Following the November international break, FIFA updated its national team rankings. Senegal, still second in Africa, has dropped one place in the world rankings.

With the 2026 World Cup draw approaching, the importance of the FIFA rankings is increasing. To be in one of the top two pots, alongside the three host countries, a strong position is essential. Eighteenth in the world rankings after the October break, the Senegalese National Team has slipped slightly.

After a defeat against Brazil (2-0) and a resounding victory against Kenya (8-0), the Lions have been overtaken by Japan. This 19th place in the world ensures Senegal a presence in pot 2 during the draw, which means that there will not be a Senegal – Japan match in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.
