The International Federation of Football Associations is considering an emergency plan ahead of the start of the 2026 World Cup. According to Topskills Sports UK, FIFA has urged the Iranian national team not to withdraw from the tournament and is expected to make an official statement in the near future.

The plan involves the possible relocation of all three of Iran's group stage matches from the United States to Mexico. This measure is being considered to prevent the team from potentially pulling out of the tournament and to protect the interests of the players and the national association, without compromising sporting integrity.

Originally, Iran was set to play all three of its Group G matches on U.S. soil. The current match schedule is as follows:

  • June 15: Iran vs. New Zealand (SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles)
  • June 21: Iran vs. Belgium (SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles)
  • June 26: Iran vs. Egypt (Lumen Field, Seattle)

The final decision regarding the possible relocation of the fixtures is expected after FIFA's official announcement.
