FIFA postpones decision on Israel's suspension from competitions
Amid the conflict between Israel and the Arab world, which escalated after the 7 October Hamas attack, the Palestinian football association has demanded that Israel be suspended from football, but so far FIFA is in no hurry to do so.
According to the New Arab website, the world football's main body has decided to postpone a decision on the Palestinian federation's complaint until after the Paris Olympics to give both sides more time to present their positions.
Recall that the Palestinian Football Association filed a complaint demanding Israel's suspension from all competitions in May over the conflict in the Gaza Strip, after which FIFA ordered an urgent legal review and promised to consider the proposal at an extraordinary meeting of its council in July.
On Thursday, football's world governing body said the legal assessment would be presented to the council by 31 August.
As a reminder, the only federation whose teams are suspended is the Russian national team, for which such a punishment is for the full-scale war in Ukraine.
