Mustapha Ghorbal has been selected by FIFA to oversee Scotland’s opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup against Haiti.
The experienced Algerian referee will take charge of the Group-stage encounter, becoming one of the African officials entrusted with officiating at football’s biggest tournament.
Ghorbal will be assisted by fellow Algerians Mokrane Gourari and Abbes Akram Zerhouni, who have been appointed as assistant referees for the match.
Meanwhile, Alejandro Hernandez will serve as the fourth official, while compatriot Jose Enrique Naranjo has been assigned to oversee Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties.
