The new edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will kick off at the end of 2025, and FIFA has now confirmed when clubs must release their players.

Details: according to Fabrizio Romano, FIFA has set Monday, 15 December, as the deadline by which players must be released for the tournament. FIFA will act as the mediator in any disputes.

Earlier, we reported that Liverpool head coach Arne Slot confirmed that star forward Mohamed Salah will join Egypt for AFCON 2025 on 15 December. This announcement clarifies his availability ahead of the continental competition in Morocco.

Reminder: the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Morocco from 21 December to 18 January. The reigning champions are Côte d’Ivoire.
