FG Delivers Housing, Land Rewards to Super Eagles
The Federal Government has fulfilled its housing and land pledges to members of the Super Eagles following their runner-up finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire. The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that players received certificates for the plots of land and housing units promised by President Bola Tinubu. Promise Efoghe, media officer of the team, told NAN that the documents were presented to players at their camp in Fes, Morocco, on Monday.
Nigeria finished second at the tournament, losing 2-1 to hosts Côte d'Ivoire in the final. On their return, President Tinubu hosted the squad at the Presidential Villa and conferred the Member of the Order of the Niger on each player. He also approved a plot of land in the Federal Capital Territory and a flat for every player.
Speaking at the presentation, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau said the move showed commitment to sports, noting that “The president graciously promised houses and lands... those promises are being fulfilled”. He added that preparations in Morocco were aimed at success, saying “We have prepared with the clear objective of winning the trophy”.
NSC chairman Shehu Dikko said the government decided to act promptly, stressing accountability and trust.
