Fenerbahçe president tests positive for drugs

Fenerbahçe currently sit second in the Turkish Super Lig standings, but the club’s president has found himself at the centre of a major scandal.

Details: According to Fanatik, traces of cocaine were found in hair samples taken from Sadettin Saran. The report has now been forwarded to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Saran is currently under a travel ban.

Sadettin Saran himself issued a written statement to the public, insisting that he has never used the substance that allegedly led to the positive test result and categorically denying all accusations.

Reminder: A Turkish court has sent 20 suspects to prison, including Galatasaray’s Metehan Baltacı, Fenerbahçe’s Mert Hakan Yandaş and former Adana Demirspor president Murat Sancak. The arrests are linked to an investigation into illegal internal betting in the country’s top divisions.
