Felipe Melo Slams Brazil’s Performance and Applauds Argentina’s Dominance
Argentina’s emphatic 4–1 victory over Brazil in Buenos Aires has stirred sharp reactions, none more scathing than that of former Brazilian international Felipe Melo. The ex-midfielder took to Instagram to praise the Albiceleste while criticizing his country’s dismal performance.
“Congrats, Argentina. Great game. Honestly, they could’ve scored even more,” Melo wrote. “The difference was huge.” He went on to praise the cohesion and effort of Lionel Scaloni’s squad, describing them as “a well-trained team, full of players who know each other and fought for every inch of the field.”
Argentina stormed ahead early, with goals from Julián Álvarez, Enzo Fernández, and Alexis Mac Allister before halftime. Brazil’s only reply came through Matheus Cunha. Giuliano Simeone later sealed the 4–1 scoreline with a powerful strike. Tellingly, Brazil registered just one shot on target throughout the match.
Melo didn’t hold back: “Brazil didn’t compete. That 4–1 was flattering.” Before the match, he had defended Raphinha’s bold comments, but after the result, his tone shifted dramatically. Former Brazil star Denílson also spoke out, telling SportTV: “I feel ashamed.” With the win, Argentina reached 31 points in the standings, while Brazil remained at 21.
