Federal Government Delivers Housing, Land, and National Honours to Super Eagles AFCON 2023 Squad
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially delivered on its promise to reward the Super Eagles players who finished as runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire, fulfilling long-awaited housing and land pledges made after the tournament.
In addition to the housing allocation, the players were also conferred with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) national honour in appreciation of their efforts and commitment to national pride.
Several members of the AFCON 2023 squad are currently with the Super Eagles in Morocco and were present to receive their documents. Among them are Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Paul Onuachu, Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi.
Others who were part of the historic squad include Stanley Nwabali, Zaidu Sanusi, Moses Simon, Frank Onyeka, Francis Uzoho and Bruno Onyemaechi.
The presentation ceremony was held at the team’s camp in Morocco, with key football and government officials in attendance. Leading the delegation was Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau, alongside representatives of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and other senior government officials.
