Vinicius’s confession comes against the backdrop of a relentless string of racist incidents: the Brazilian has already been targeted with abuse in 26 matches at ten different Spanish stadiums. The latest high-profile case happened in February in Lisbon, when a Champions League match against Benfica was halted for ten minutes after the forward complained about racist chants.
