Former Indomitable Lions captain Samuel Eto’o is running for re-election as president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT). Amidst tensions within Cameroonian football, the election will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Yaoundé.

Despite these conflicts, FECAFOOT has announced the presence of representatives from FIFA and CAF at the general assembly. Their role will be to ensure the smooth running of the election, a crucial element given that FIFA rules prohibit any political interference in the affairs of federations.

Since his election in December 2021, Samuel Eto’o has faced intense criticism regarding his management of Cameroonian football. He finished his first term without a title, and the national team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The choice of the Lions' coach, Marc Brys, who was appointed by the ministry in April 2024, is still controversial.
