FCV Dender have confirmed that Super Eagles defender Benjamin Fredrick has suffered a knee injury and has returned to his parent club, Brentford, to begin rehabilitation. The injury rules him out of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
“Benjamin has suffered a knee injury. He is now beginning his rehabilitation in England at Brentford,” the club stated.
The 20-year-old defender had been a key figure for Nigeria, starting in the last six matches. He was expected to play a pivotal role for the Super Eagles at AFCON 2025, but the injury will sideline him for the tournament, leaving a significant gap in the team’s defense.
