FC Dallas, one of Major League Soccer’s founding teams, has officially kicked off a $182 million renovation of Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, according to Inside World Football. The overhaul will expand the venue’s capacity from 19,000 to around 22,000 and is scheduled for completion by 2028.

The stadium, which opened in 2005, will remain operational throughout the construction process and is expected to serve as a “base camp” for a national team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Among the most notable upgrades is the rebuilding of the west-side structure housing the press box and luxury suites. The redesigned three-story complex will accommodate MLS-level media demands, including a new press box with a full view of the field, and will feature the league’s largest video board.

A custom-designed canopy will be added to fully shade the open-air stadium, enhancing comfort during the hot Texas summers. The number of luxury suites will more than double to 57, with fans offered five size options, each including indoor space with kitchen amenities, a covered porch, and outdoor seating.

While the stadium's south end, home to the National Soccer Hall of Fame since 2018, will remain largely unchanged, the north end will see the addition of 2,000 seats and retractable stands to accommodate concert events.

“The number-one motivation is fan experience,” said FC Dallas COO Jimmy Smith. “But as part of a public-private partnership, we also have a responsibility to host as many events as possible.”
