Fati is unlikely to move to Sevilla this summer. Where will he continue his career?
Young Barcelona winger Ansu Fati will not be joining Sevilla this summer despite considerable interest from the Andalusian club.
According to Diario Sport, Sevilla cannot afford the player's salary. Barcelona was willing to split Fati's wages in half, but even that reduced amount is too burdensome for Sevilla, which is currently facing a financial crisis.
Another issue is that Fati himself is not inclined to leave Barcelona again, even on loan. He wants to go on the preseason tour with the club and prove to Hansi Flick that he can be an important part of the team.
Sevilla is not an unfamiliar club to Fati. He played in their academy from 2010 to 2012 before moving to Barcelona.
Last season, Fati was on loan at Brighton, but due to injuries, he played only 19 Premier League matches and scored 2 goals.
Sevilla finished a disappointing 14th in La Liga.
