Another setback for the Italian national team.
Details: According to renowned and respected journalist and insider Fabrizio Romano on his X social media page, 48-year-old Gennaro Gattuso has decided to step down as head coach of the Italian national team.
Reports indicate that Gattuso's decision is final, and the Italian Football Federation has already begun the search for a new manager.
The reason for such a drastic move was Italy's defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the World Cup qualification playoff, which saw the Azzurri miss out on the World Cup for a third consecutive time.
Gattuso's resignation will be officially announced soon.
Gattuso took charge of the Azzurri in June 2025. He managed eight matches at the helm, recording six victories and two defeats. His main objective was to lead Italy to the World Cup, but he ultimately failed to deliver.
Reminder: Sensation! The Italian Football Federation has found a replacement for Gattuso
