The 2026 World Cup, set to be staged across three countries, is fast approaching. Yet there is growing uncertainty over whether Brazil’s iconic forward will be part of the spectacle.

Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, with each passing day it is becoming increasingly difficult for Neymar to cling to hopes of representing Brazil at the World Cup. His chances of making the squad are reportedly diminishing.

Notably, Neymar recently played the full 90 minutes but was unable to inspire Santos to a place in the Paulista semifinals. Next, his side will face Vasco on February 27 in Brazil’s Serie A.

We previously reported that Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti made it clear he holds no special preference for Neymar and treats him like any other Brazilian international.

He will include Neymar in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup only if the forward is in outstanding physical condition and capable of maintaining high intensity throughout an entire match.

Reminder: Neymar recently returned to action and marked his comeback by finding the net in his very first game after recovering from injury.
