Experts have assessed the management of Premier League clubs in 2024. Who turned out to be the best?
Club management - a lot depends on them in football. They appoint and fire coaches, they buy and sell players, they determine funding. This is only a small part of what falls on the shoulders of club managers. But their work is also subject to evaluation.
British analytical portal Fair Game has ranked English Premier League clubs according to how they were managed in the first eight months of 2024.
The rankings are based on four criteria: financial stability (maximum 40 points), overall management (maximum 30 points), fan and community relations (maximum 10 points) and ethical standards (maximum 20 points).
On the first two criteria, oddly enough, it was Manchester United who came out on top, scoring 29.1 and 20.7 respectively. But the overall score is better for Tottenham, who scored 68.2 out of a possible 100 points.
Premier League clubs ranked in terms of manageability in 2024
- Tottenham - 68.2 points
- Man United - 65.4 points
- Brentford - 60.2 points
- Fulham - 58.2 points
- Liverpool - 57.3 points
- Chelsea - 57 points
- Man City - 56.8 points
- Brighton - 56 points
- Arsenal - 54.7 points
- Crystal Palace - 52.7 points
- West Ham - 51.4 points
- Wolverhampton - 51 points
- Burnley - 48.3 points
- Aston Villa - 46.8 points
- Luton Town - 46 points
- Newcastle - 45.4 points
- Everton - 43.6 points
- Sheffield United - 43.4 points
- Nottingham Forest - 42.8 points
- Bournemouth - 42.5 points
But the ranking has not only positioned in relation to the Premier League, but to the whole of English football in principle.
For example, the last Bournemouth on this list was not only worse than all the other 19 Premier League teams, but also worse than the 13 Championship teams as of the 2023/2024 season.
