In July, British businesswoman Amanda Staveley sold her shares in Newcastle United to the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Reuben family after three years at the helm. Staveley admitted she was "devastated" but didn’t want to stand in Newcastle’s way.

However, Staveley doesn't plan to stay away from football for long. According to reports from The Sun, the 51-year-old businesswoman has secured backing from a group of investors, including individuals from the Middle East, and is planning to acquire a stake in Tottenham Hotspur.

The exact number of shares involved has not yet been disclosed. Spurs are valued at approximately £2.4 billion. If Staveley seeks to purchase 25% of the club, it would cost her around £600 million. Reports indicate that she has already raised £500 million through her investment fund, PCP Capital Partners. Furthermore, it’s suggested that the investors may later attempt to increase their stake in the North London club.

It’s worth noting that the shareholding Staveley owned in Newcastle was valued at around £305 million.

Since 2001, Tottenham has been owned by ENIC (English National Investment Company), with the family trust of Joe Lewis holding the controlling stake. In 2023, Lewis was removed from his position as a "person with significant control over the club" following the reorganization of the Lewis family trust. This came after he was charged with 19 counts of insider trading, to which he pled guilty in a U.S. court earlier this year.
