Ex-French national team player got into police custody. He committed a drink-addled offence
It was only recently that the Spanish media headlines thundered with the antics of a Valencia footballer, as now the matter has reached neighbouring France, where an unpleasant event involving a footballer has also taken place.
So, according to L`Equipe, local police arrested former Monaco and France forward Wissam Ben-Yedder on Friday night. The 34-year-old player was stopped while driving at around 3am.
The forward was taken to police where he was charged with ‘sexual assault while visibly intoxicated, refusal to comply and drink driving’. He has now been placed under overnight house arrest, although prosecution authorities are asking the court to remand Ben-Yedder into custody. The forward has also received an invitation to the police authorities for 15 October.
Ben-Yedder left Monaco, for whom he played the most matches, at the beginning of June as a free agent and after that the winner of the Nations League with the French national team has not found a new club.
