On August 14, 2020, exactly four years ago, one of the most epic matches in modern UEFA Champions League history took place.

In the 2019/2020 Champions League quarterfinals, Barcelona suffered one of the most humiliating defeats in the club's history, crashing out of the competition with an 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in Lisbon.

That day, Bayern's goals came from Serge Gnabry, Ivan Perišić, Joshua Kimmich, Robert Lewandowski, with Thomas Müller and Philippe Coutinho each scoring twice. Barcelona's only responses were an own goal by David Alaba and a goal from Luis Suárez.

This 8-2 defeat is Barcelona's fourth-largest loss in its history and the largest in the current century. The record for their biggest defeat remains a 1-12 loss to Athletic Bilbao in the 1930/31 season.

Ironically, in the new season, Barcelona is coached by Hansi Flick, who was Bayern's head coach during that infamous match.
