Everton want to keep the ex-Tottenham star, but everything is being held up by one contract term
Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli moved to Everton as a free agent in the winter of 2022, but some of the terms of the deal make it a bit difficult for the player to stay at Goodison Park.
Recall that when signing the contract, a clause was included that if the 28-year-old player signs a new deal with the Liverpool club, the Toffees will then have to pay Tottenham a certain amount. That, according to the Liverpool Echo, is the stumbling block in the new deal.
Everton don't mind keeping Alli for longer, and the player himself has accepted the club's offer to extend his co-operation, but in times of austerity, the Toffees are trying to negotiate a reduction in the aforementioned amount.
If the former England midfielder prefers to join another club, then Tottenham will not receive a penny.
