Everton could be deprived of another 9 points
If the independent panel decides to satisfy the demands of Burnley, Leeds, and Leicester against Everton, the Liverpool club could face the deduction of another 9 points, reports the Daily Mail.
Earlier, we reported that Leicester, Leeds, and Burnley are planning to take Everton to court, with the combined lawsuit amounting to £300 million. These clubs have assessed the damage caused by Everton's non-compliance and the lack of sanctions during the period after breaching financial fair play rules in the 2021/22 season, for which Everton has already been docked 10 points.
Potential buyers of Everton, the company 777 Partners, have committed to providing approximately £20 million per month to cover the club's current expenses while the Premier League assesses their acquisition proposal. They will not want to pay the aforementioned compensation.
Due to the inability to pay the compensation, Everton could face further punishment in the form of a deduction of another 9 points.
Furthermore, the agreement made between Everton owner Farhad Moshiri and 777Partners in September includes clauses indicating that the club's sale price will be significantly reduced if they are obligated to pay compensation or if they are relegated from the Premier League.
After the deduction of 10 points, Everton sits second to last in the English Premier League table with 4 points.
