European national team coach resigns after Euro 2024 play-offs
Three consecutive participation in international tournaments, second place in the Nations League group, semi-final of the European Championship - all these are the achievements of the head coach of the Danish national team Kasper Hjulmand, who today resigned from this post.
The 52-year-old specialist communicated this decision to the Danish federation leadership, which accepted Hjulmand's resignation. During a general conversation, the parties decided that the team requires new energy, and the time for change has come, and the team needs a new coach.
In the future, Hjulmand will be involved as a consultant in the major cultural project Hele Danmarks Klubhus, which aims to create a major new national football centre and regional centres across Denmark.
Hjulmand has been in charge of the Danish team since August 2020. During that time, he played 54 matches, of which he won 32. A further eight games ended in draws and 14 matches ended in defeat.
His last match in charge of the Danish national team was a game in the round of 16 of Euro 2024 against Germany, which ended in a 0:2 defeat.
