European Club Targets Saprissa's Gerald Taylor in Surprise Transfer Move

Gerald Taylor’s return to Saprissa could be short-lived. The 24-year-old right back, recently back from a loan spell at Scotland’s Hearts, has received a concrete offer from a club in Greece, Tigo Sports reports. The potential transfer threatens to disrupt Paulo Wanchope’s early plans as he reshapes the squad for the 2025 Apertura.
Taylor and goalkeeper Kevin Chamorro both returned to Tibás after international experience, with the idea of becoming key pieces in Wanchope’s setup. In Taylor’s case, his combination of speed, defensive grit, and offensive projection makes him an ideal starter—and an appealing prospect for European clubs.
Though his time in Scotland was hampered by injury, it also left him better prepared for another stint abroad. For Saprissa, however, losing him would be a blow, especially considering the lack of depth in his position.
The club has yet to respond to the offer, but if Taylor does depart, Saprissa will need to move quickly in the market. What began as a quiet transfer window could suddenly require urgent action.
