Euromatch NPFL: Katsina United Coach Azeez Mohammed Praises Players After 1-1 Draw Against Rangers
Katsina United head coach Azeez Mohammed has praised his players for their commitment after they held defending champions Rangers International to a 1-1 draw in their opening match of the 2026/27 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The Chanji Boys took the lead in the 35th minute through Dadong, who scored his first goal of the new campaign to put Katsina United ahead.
However, Rangers found a way back into the game late in the second half after a costly mistake from Katsina United goalkeeper Koroma. The goalkeeper failed to hold a cross and ended up carrying the ball into his own net, allowing the defending champions to snatch a point.
Despite the disappointing manner of the equaliser, Mohammed was pleased with the effort and discipline shown by his players throughout the match.
“I like the commitment from the boys and the play off the ball from the instructions we passed to them. We can’t dwell on what happened with the goalkeeper’s error,” Mohammed said.
“We’re lucky we were a goal up before it happened, and we were playing the defending champions,” he added.
