Euromatch NPFL: Gbenga Ogunbote Urges Plateau United to Move On From Enyimba Defeat

Plateau United technical adviser Gbenga Ogunbote has urged his players to put their disappointing defeat to Enyimba behind them and focus on their next Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture.

The Peace Boys suffered a 2-0 loss to Enyimba in their Matchday 7 encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday.

Ogunbote said Plateau United travelled to Aba determined to secure all three points but were unable to achieve their objective.

“It was unfortunate. We came here with a different notion, but unfortunately, we lost the game,” Ogunbote said after the match.

The coach also confirmed that Ibrahim Yahaya picked up an injury and will miss Plateau United’s next game. Despite the setback, Ogunbote urged his players to learn from the defeat, take the positives and correct their mistakes.

“It was unfortunate. We came here with a different notion, but unfortunately, we lost the game,” Ogunbote told the media after the match.

“Another disappointing thing is that we lost a key player, Ibrahim Yahaya, to injury. He won’t be available for the next game.

“But be that as it may, that’s part of the game. We have to move on, take the positives from the game, make amends, and move forward.”

Ogunbote admitted that his players allowed the match to slip away.

“I don’t want to use the word complacency or unnecessary overconfidence. Honestly, that was just it. We had the game in our hands, but unfortunately, through our arrogance, we lost it,” he said.
