Euro 2024 top scorer has officially turned down Monaco and returned to his hometown club

Georgian national team striker Georges Mikautadze has made a significant career move following a successful Euro 2024.
Today, Mikautadze officially transferred from Metz to Lyon, signing a contract with "Les Gones" until the summer of 2028.
Mikautadze was the standout player for Georgia at Euro 2024, where the team surprisingly reached the Round of 16. He scored 3 goals in the tournament, sharing the top scorer title with five other players.
Initially, Mikautadze had an agreement with Monaco, but on the day before his medical, he informed them that he would accept Lyon's offer.
In the summer of 2023, Mikautadze transferred from Metz to Ajax for 16 million euros, but he failed to make an impact at the Amsterdam club. As a result, Mikautadze returned to Metz on loan, and after the loan period, Metz re-signed him.
In 20 matches in Ligue 1 last season, Mikautadze scored 13 goals, but this was not enough to save Metz from relegation.
Interestingly, from 2008 to 2015, Mikautadze trained in Lyon's academy but was unable to break into the first team of his hometown club.
