The Ethiopian national team had to make a last-minute change to their squad before their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying match against Sudan. Head coach Mesay Teferi has chosen forward Natnael Gebregiorgis to replace the injured star striker Chernet Gugesa. The first game will happen on December 22 in Benghazi, Libya.

Gugesa, who plays for Bahirdar Ketema, got hurt during a Premier League game against Saint George, the team he used to play for. Even though some people didn't agree with his selection because of his recent struggles, his injury is still a setback for the team.

Natnael Gebregiorgis, who joined Ethio-Electric earlier this year and has scored two goals this season, will take Gugesa's place. He can play as a winger, striker, or midfielder, which gives the Ethiopian team more options in their attack.

The national side, currently training at Addis Ababa Stadium, has also welcomed goalkeeper Firew Getahun, Said Habtamu, and center-back Ramkel James to their camp.

Ethiopia aims to overcome Sudan and secure a spot in the CHAN finals, with the second leg of the qualifier looming.
